The universe of cryptocurrencies grows every day. One of those responsible for this is memecoins. Based on iconic memes, they quickly gain notoriety. One of the most recent is BRETT.
Like PEPE, this meme coin comes from the comic book Boy’s Club, created by American illustrator Matt Furie. The plot revolves around four characters who are roommates: Andy, Brett, Landwolf and Pepe.
Pepe frog and memecoins
The comic book Boy’s Club became famous for Pepe's quote, "feels good, man", which served as inspiration for the most diverse memes. Based on this, anonymous developers created the token in honor of the character.
Old images of Pepe are considered rare and have even become NFTs. The token that bears the character's name is one of the best known, serving as inspiration for the creation of PepeFork (PORK) and TransPepe (TRANS).
BRETT and Solana
Unlike PEPE, which runs on the Ethereum blockchain, BRETT runs on Solana. Through the playful appeal and joking tone, the idea is to make the platform better known to beginners in cryptocurrency trading.
The launch of BRETT attracted the attention of crypto enthusiasts. The airdrop was limited. Access to some tokens was enough to draw the attention of the memecoin community and a trading volume of US$10 million in just 24 hours.
BRETT token
The BRETT token is a little different from traditional memecoins. As it runs on Solana, to acquire it, you must have SOL in your digital wallet. Exchanging SOL for the character's currency does not require the payment of fees or taxes.
To hold it, the holder needs to have a Solana digital wallet. To sell or buy more character tokens, simply have SOL available. The asset can also be purchased on decentralized exchanges.
Tokenomics
The supply of BRETT is limited to 1 billion units, with 85% going to the community, 10% to the token treasury and 5% to the marketing fund, responsible for communication within and outside the community.
Appeal of memecoins
Despite having value as currencies, memecoins are a type of initiative to bring the world of cryptocurrencies closer to people. As they are very volatile, their value varies over a short period of time and can rise or fall quickly.
One of the biggest enthusiasts of this type of token is tycoon Elon Musk. He is one of those responsible for making memecoins better known. He frequently mentions DOGE in his posts, even declaring himself the “father” of the asset.
Other examples of memecoins
On blockchains, several memecoins are inspired by animals, game characters and celebrities. In addition to DOGE, PEPE and BRETT, there are: Shiba Inu (SHIB), DogWifHat (WIF), Myro (MYRO) and Dogelon Mars (ELON).
